So. Space. It's pretty humongous big.Some people seem to think it's pretty cool. We like it, personally. So, we decided we needed to get some space up in our fandoms. For example, what if PK Subban was a space marine? What if Hogwarts was a space station, or Derek Hale was the captain of a space ship filled with space werewolves a rag tag band of misfits? Yeah, that's pretty cool.

Submission Requirements

Your submission must be (obviously) ~SET IN SPACE! Beyond that, you can basically interpret as you will. As this is an AU challenge--the point is to get more characters into space settings who weren't already--fandoms that are already set in space are not allowed (sorry Star Trek, Firefly, Star Wars, et al). Fusions with those fandoms, however, are happily encouraged, so long as the focus is on the characters from the non-space fandoms.

Here are the minimum size requirements for your fanworks (longer/larger submissions always accepted, of course):

• Fic: 15k words
  
• Art: 400x400 pixels (can be broken up into multiple images, like gifsets)
  
• Podfic: 10k words (can be extracts or multiple stories)
  
• Oral Not!Fic/Podcast/Other Spoken Works: 1 hour
  
• Fanmix: 10 tracks, must include cover art
  
• Vid: 1.5 min
  
• Other Types of Fanworks: we're totally open to pretty much anything you can think of, drop the mods a line if you want to do something that isn't listed here

Challenge Timeline

Here is the timeline for the current round:

• Sign-Ups: May 22 to June 9th
  
• First Check-In: July 1 (Do you have an idea? Have you started planning/creation?)
  
• Second Check-In: August 1 (Hope you've started by now. Are you on track? If you've elected to have your creation open for art, basic header info and a rough draft of some sort are needed at this time. )
  
• Accompanying Art Sign-Ups Open: August 3
  
• Final Check-In: August 25 (Tell us now if you need help/to drop out.)
  
• Finished Projects Due: August 31

• You’ve got until June 9th to sign up.
  
• Final works will be posted on Archive of Our Own, and crossposted to the Dreamwidth community. (Contact the mods if you need an AO3 account or have concerns about this.)
  
• YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE A DREAMWIDTH ACCOUNT TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS CHALLENGE.
  All updates and reminders will be posted to the official Tumblr and Twitter accounts, and reminder emails will be sent out. Final works will be to Archive of Our Own; mods are happy to crosspost to Dreamwidth for you. (Please let us know if you need this.)
  
• This is not a big bang, art is not guaranteed for your fic (or other fanworks). We will have a claims post, but having your work go onto the claims post is opt-in, and we don't make any promises as to how many things will be claimed. (Info on how to sign-up for art claims will come at a later date.)
